vloggity from the trails…

Isn’t the view from the trails around me GORGEOUS? This is a big reason it is hard for me to stick to an indoor workout.  I have to get outside when I can.  I also need to be prepping for that 10K Memorial Day.  This week will definitely be a seize the day type of week.  If the snow predicted for Monday and Tuesday really comes down I’ll hit p90x for the pull-ups, push-ups and jump training.  If we really do get a dump then I’ll head to the golf course in my community because they open up for x-country skiing.  I have been dying to take Bodhi x-country skiing in a sled that I can pull anchored on my hips.  We will see how the week unfolds weather wise and health wise.  I am feeling great right now and I hope I can keep up this energy momentum.

My energy slump really was a huge victory this week.  I did not push workouts hard last week and am up in the air about my feelings towards that.  I will push a little harder this week.  Life is about balance and two weeks ago I did not feel balanced about my workout effort (it was too hard) this past week it was too easy… this upcoming week it will hopefully be just right.  Wish me well in a Goldilocks sort of way.

This week was also awesome in that when breakfast was finished today and it came to meal plan my husband was eager to toss out ideas (well once I gave him a small selection of what I could pull from the freezer.) To see the original post I did on meal planning with my mate click here.

Sunday: Potluck, we are bringing @AlysaRDs Black Bean and Sweet Potato Enchiladas

Monday: roast with mushrooms on polenta and green beans

Tuesday: turkey pot pie

Wednesday: Mahi Mahi, avocado rolls, seaweed salad and lime ginger sorbet

Thursday: eating at an event catered by Q’doba (sticking to rice/beans/lean meat)

Friday: black eyed peas, collards, brown rice

Saturday: eat out (will be at a pod camp event Fri nite and all day Sat)

And two other food tidbits… first is something that I tossed together this week that I need to tell everyone about… Herbs de Provence omelet on a bed of spinach tossed with a red onion, white balsamic and olive oil vinagrette. Let me just say… DELISH!  Second, I posted the Southwest Black Bean and Quinoa Salad recipe.

Finally the Mamavation Blogging Carnival question prompted by Earth FootwearWhat does “wellness” mean to you?

I can answer this in one word, BALANCE.  If you aren’t balanced then you aren’t well.  Balance in your physical efforts, your diet, your emotional commitments… basically your lifestyle.  When you give of yourself too much in one direction and deplete yourself in another you are not balanced.  As moms it is in our best interest to do what we can so that we are in top form to ensure our families function in top form.

  4. Just gorgeous out there! I know we have not had as much snow here in OR as we had hoped either. Still haven’t had a chance to get my toddler out on his new Xcountry skis. I am still hoping though. Do you have a Burley trailer? My DH loves to pull the kids in ours. We have it modified with the ski kit and love it!
