14 march 2011 update

Whew – I look a bit tore up after a few hours of sleep but not as bad as I could have I guess 🙂

This was an interesting week.  I taught a lot of yoga, did a lot of yoga, ran,  and really pushed myself.  Come Thursday I was on a small trail run with a group and the jogging stroller and I had to walk.  I was a bit overwhelmed by how hard I had to push myself to walk/jog but then later on I realized my cycle was approaching.  That day continued with some intense back spasms that are the new hallmark of my monthly visitor.

By the end of the week I strengthened a good deal and probably put on some weight.  Oh bother.  No biggie.  My big goal is for a more functional body.  One of my big goals is to return to handstand push-ups for my birthday (6 months away) and I was able to bust out a few after a class I taught with a wall assist.

I went to another Friday Night Yoga Club and it was awesome.  The instructor was Madhuri Martin and it was a great class to work on right form and temperance.  As the class went into wheel I refrained and went into bridge because I bet that is how I widened my diastisis a bit in December. The class was at Samadhi in Denver and I adore the ambiance of the class.  This was the mural I faced in the front row while Jim Beckwith played his sitar, other instruments and sang in front of me.

Big things I see this week are keeping the good snacks on hand like almonds, apples, etc.  I am taking my dad on a photo road trip Monday and Tuesday to Sante Fe, NM and southern Colorado to view the Sandhill Cranes for an early birthday present.  On Wednesday I am helping out with the annual fundraiser for The Women’s Wildnerness Institute which is an organization I have devoted a good deal of time to since coming to Colorado.  Then I have to haul some A$$ to finish up a project I have been working on.  And finally this weekend I am holding my first yoga workshop… actually yoga and writing for women in social media.

As far as noms and meal planning – gah, we didn’t do it this weekend.  #FAIL

On an awesome note I’ll be heading to a Trader Joe’s tomorrow. #WIN

I am leading yoga sessions at the Mamavation Fit-cation and the Fitness and Health Bloggers Conference and welcome any questions people may have about those sessions.

Now my question for you… did Daylight Savings Time kick your butt at all this weekend?  Look at me in that vlog – it got me before I took a mid-day nap.

  1. You are SUCH an inspirational woman, Kia! Seriously! I just admire your determination, drive, and … YOU!

Enjoy your photo vacation wtih you dad! Sounds like alot of fun.

  2. Not really. I go to bed with the girls (3 yo & 4 mo) because I get up at the buttcrack of dawn with the baby — usually around 6 am. Have fun!

  3. Every time I see I face I think Kia will teach me Yoga and I smile a lot.
    Love your smile

  4. You sound like such a busy lady! I can’t wait to hear about your Fitcation classes. 🙂

  5. Okay, if you do the handstand push-ups, you have to vlog it lady!!! I wanna see.

Okay, so disappointed there is no meal plan to drool over… though I didn’t post a recipe this week, so we are even. Going to Trader Joes… ALWAYS good. I love their harvest grain blend for a quick supper side. Yum.

Have a great week and enjoy your time.

  6. have a fun week….sounds busy, yet fun! yeah daylight savings through me off. My evening have seem to been going by faster already. The first morning I was like “yeah the baby slept 7 hrs”…nope just forgot daylight savings…Its funny cause 4 am I can then go back to bed but 5am ends up only giving me a little time to lay back down and get tired again before actually having to start the day.
