mamavation monday 10 january 2011

Vloggity, vlog, vlog, vlog (Oh how I hope Dead Prez find this funny if they ever have to see it.)

It has been a good week.  A busy week.  The only part of all that I did that may interest you is that I was lucky enough to interview all the Mamavation campaign 7 applicants who were willing to comply with the requirements of the application.  I cannot go into detail of the interviews but I asked one question of everyone that put a smile on my face from their answers.  I asked everyone to tell me the main lesson they want their children to take into adulthood that they learn from their mother’s example.

As you can imagine I heard nothing but an earful of beautiful in response to that prompt.  We have some amazing women in our midst.

For me this week was a return to the fun of P90X. Right now I feel a little worn especially in my abs, hamstrings, and deltoids. I will be back for more this week though.

I need to crank on my fitness and diet for the moment.  I have another vanity goal… I want to look super cute for my 3rd wedding anniversary in two weeks.

So this week here are my arbitrary goals:

  1. Breakfast within an hour of waking to get the metabolism going.
  2. 120 oz. of water/day (I have been above 64 oz/day but do better with more)
  3. Eat, eat, eat – don’t let myself get hungry (intuitive eating)

I am not going extremely hardcore on the P90X right now because I am monitoring my post-partum body with this level of exercise, I can’t get too sore as a yoga instructor that covers a good many last minute classes, and I want to keep doing it so am cautious about burn out factor.  The big thing in my life related to this program is needing to eat, and eat well.  Diet is really the majority of weight loss efforts in my eyes because working out is play.

Salonpas is sponsoring the blogging carnival on Mamavation this week with the question:

Have you ever been injured starting a new exercise routine? Tell us about it…If not, do you get any aches and pains? Where?

Never been injured starting a new exercise routine but my body aches these days are my back as my body deals with fluctuating cycles after having my baby.

Have a stellar week everyone. xoxo

  1. Looked beautiful! My DH was actually helping with a learn to ski day for Xcountry folks here in OR. So, it was a great day to be out in the snow.

Your little music video/snowshoe romp made me giggle! Thanks for the fun. And your little guy is ADORABLE!

  2. “Diet is really the majority of weight loss efforts in my eyes because working out is play.” – Love this quote! Your videos are always the best. You have inspired me to Vlog more. Sounds like you are monitoring your body very well for P90X.

  3. I can’t stop laughing. Thanks, I needed that.

I always enjoy your vlogs. I like the idea of “not letting yourself get hungry”. Same thing with water right? If you are thirsty it means you are already dehydrated? is that right? Best of luck to you this week.

  4. You are too adorable! And what an awesome mommy–you are one of the cool moms that I always wanted to be! (I realize now that I am pretty boring!) 🙂 So incredibly cool!

  5. You are so hilarious – I laughed an cried at the same time. Good luck with your week

  6. I was cracking up!.. I loved watching Bodhi’s little head bouncing around. 🙂

  7. Even Aiden was fixated watching you run and dance around with your little man. I’m not sure who was having the most fun out there! So adorable. I can’t believe how big your little dude is already! I’m still wrapping my mind around having a nearly 1 year old.

  8. You are awesome!!
So so cute and funny! You’re strong too! Damn!
The P90X is a revelation to me because you can eat SO MUCH because of the workouts! I lost weight eating over 2000 calories a day? What?

    Anyway, love you love you!!

  9. Love the vlog! You’re little guy is adorable. Have fun with P90X. I’m nowhere near doing something like that but I’ll get there eventually. Have a great week!

  10. You are way too cute!

And I completely don’t blame you for taking it easy on p90x. If I were still not sleeping completely through the night, I wouldn’t be doing it at all haha

  11. Too stinkin’ funny! Love it and Love you! Awesome! Great job this week!

  12. Oh Kia, how I love you!! … in a non-stalker, non-weird kind of way, of course! That was an awesome vlog and your Bodhi is so cute. I love his little cheeks.

Thanks for the reminder about water. I’ve also come to realize that even though I’m getting in ~90oz of water/day, I do better with more.

  13. I just love you Kia. You are so cute and sweet. What a motivator! I never thought of eating breakfast early on! Off to eat something!

  14. What a great vlog! And I love the way you really listen to your body and it’s cues. Fantastic.

  15. That is a good idea about the breakfast in the am. I don’t know why it is so hard for me to do that. I’ll look into the p90x I start the hib hop abs today.

  16. I am so looking into p90x…

  17. LOVE the vlog, Kia! Your strength is amazing to be running around like that with a 20-lb bambino in a carrier! I’m so in awe. I really miss those baby-wearing days.

  20. Best wishes on your goals! Water is something I need to focus on more often. I know I’m not getting enough, but I’m not quite sure how much not enough I’m not getting. 🙂 (That made almost no sense) Have a great week!

  21. you know I didnt follow through much with my pregnancy and trying to stay fit…but you have and still are such a great role model!

  22. I’m soooo jealous that I didn’t know you when I was preggers but am SO GRATEFUL that you are here for my journey now! How awesome was it to be able to interview the applicants? They are all SOOOOO wonderful! that must have been a blast 🙂

  23. Kia, you are too funny! Looks like you guys were having a ton of fun. Way to get some exercise in the cold snowy weather. I also want to say I think it’s very wise of you to take it easy on p90x and try to avoid getting burnt out with all of the other activity that you do. You are a great model to follow. 🙂

You are a TOTALLY fun mom. How adorable are you both?

I should take some lessons from you about my post-partum body. I don’t know how old your baby is, but I think we are about the same judging by his look. I don’t tend to listen to my body well and remember she is still young, and therefore I am still fluctuating… oh yea, that… Thank you for reminding me (you keep DOING THAT!) xoxo
