Baby party in May. My husband is a huge attention whore and got have a baby party before our kiddo was born. I felt it was his time to shine so let him go with it. I was ambivalent at first especially since I would not have any family there. Family was supposed to be there but a serious illness kept my father and thus two of my nieces away.
I had actually been dreading the party.
To squash my nerves I went to workout and swim laps beforehand. 8 months pregnant and swimming furiously to keep my mind off this celebration. It worked.
I got home to find my husband in a frenzy since he was not taking good care of himself and eating while preparing with our hostesses. He actually had no idea what time it started so was caught off-guard with that too. Instead of relaxing I was thrust into caring for him and finally chilling out once I got some food into him.
It was sweet though, our friends had gathered and they were sincere. They made me cry. They let me know how much they loved us and how strong our community really is. The community blessing was the best part of that party.
In the end I suppose I am glad my husband was such a mess because that helped keep me occupied and away from any pity party I may have had that family was not there.
