mamavation monday 18 october 2010

First off yesterday went great. VLOG.

The race was so much fun. You have heard me whine about my lack of training 4 months after baby especially with the horrible September including wildfires, poor air quality, and a husband with depression. Well this weekend was no walk in the park either. I had to take a trip to the ER in the middle of the night early Saturday after my husband was sucker-punched breaking up a fight while hanging out with friends. I was on little sleep leading into the half.

However I rocked the hell out of it! 2:35:41 was my official chip time. From mile 0-5 I was looking for a bathroom. I finally got to go and then flew miles 5-9 until my IT band got tight, then my calf started to twinge (pre-cramp) and then I bonked! I hit 10 miles at 1:50 and struggled the final 3.1 miles. Believe me that I had a smile on my face the whole time though!

and why yes I am a new mom exclusively breastfeeding that 4-month old “Mongo” on my shoulders, and yes I was super engorged and am leaking through my two sport bras and top even after feeding him after the race

My husband with a black eye met me twice along the course with the baby after mile 10, and that lifted my spirit greatly. Well that and the great music since it was a Rock n’ Roll event.

Now I am on the recovery road. Eating like mad and rest. And like I predicted, I knew I would gain weight this week to help my unprepared body get ready for the race.

Here is my scale pic (as this segways into the Move It or Lose It Challenge requirements:

My full body shots as of today:

And my measurements:

Oh my crazy bonkers am I thrilled. I wish I could insert some disparaging remarks about the pics and measurements but I am on freakin’ cloud nine right now. I had no idea I changed this much in 12 weeks.

Anyway the twitter party just began and I better go. Have a great week everyone and congrats @ninemoremonths for being SOTW. You rock. One more thing… my beautiful preggo sistas are almost due. I hope you all are having some positive midwife/doctor appointments and in that powerful/graceful mindset as you get ready to bring new little ones into the world (@fitcheerldr @beeacutie2 @colleen_mouse)

  10. Great job on all of it. Sorry to hear your husband had a rough time. Have you tried Lilypadz? They are awesome, just stick right to you and hold all the extra in, they were great for swimming. Move it and Lose it! You go girl!!

  11. You rock Kia.

Running a 1/2 marathon while nursing your son, and being postpartum only 4 months is amazing!

In your video, you pan over the wonderfully delectable dessert spread. In MY video, it would have shown me face down, inhaling said desserts. I admire your restraint 🙂 Awesome run, I'm glad you had fun. That is more important than your time and pace any day.

  14. Wow! I thought about running that 1/2, but I'm breastfeeding my 7-month-old and didn't want to be away that long primarily due to the engorgement isue. I'm planning the Platte River 1/2 in the spring when she'll be a year old and it won't be as much of an issue (or at least that's what I remember from my first).

    WTG!!!!
