The Crud/The Funk #365yoga

Last Thursday my little guy woke at 4 am hacking with a cough and I was up. I have seen way too many midnights then sunrises since then and been fighting off his crud as well as my husband’s. At 30 weeks pregnant I think this is a pretty miraculous feat to still have an immune system fighting back in a city going through an epidemic of flu/norovirus/respiratory infection/croup/cold these days.

So that is what I have been up to. By Sunday night my body was so exhausted every part of me was sore climbing into bed and I figured I had succumbed to a flu. However by 2 am I was awake to go to the bathroom and my muscles felt fine. I was at a point of pure physical exhaustion. I napped on Monday. I tried to jump back into life full force on Tuesday and my body said, “you are pregnant fool” and pushed me down. Today it has been holistic garlic lemonade, green smoothies, physically taking it easy and not even cooking dinner so I would have a full rest day. We went out to one of our fave Nepalese restaurants instead.

Patience. Ahimsa. Life.

During this time I also celebrated a wedding anniversary where I could not even kiss my husband who was fighting a cold. However I was very content with that day, what I have in this life and how it was all thrown at us. A total Santosha experience.

With essentially laying low the last few days my body feels a little out of sorts, wanting. Cat/cow have been my friend as well as a simple vinyasa to allow movement into my back without taxing me at all. Some of the gentlest of yoga without being restorative or in savasana for a physical practice. Movement and breath are still your friends even when your body is not wanting to do anything.

  1. Yes, it always comes back to breath. Sometimes, lying on my back, the work on breath is my entire practice for the day 🙂 I’m glad your gang is back on its feet.

  2. I just love that you are so connected to what your body is feeling & needing…good for your for honouring yourself…

  3. So with you on this one! I was lying on the couch .. raging fever as my elves sang happy birthday to my husband. I still have not had any of his cake!

Hope you have turned the corner! Nothing worse than being sick and pregnant. nothing.

  4. I agree! Way to honor your body. It’s always hard when we want to go go go, but the body forces us to rest. For the better. And congrats on another little one! xoxo
