Yeah, my weak leg and back hurt (about four hours post-run). Darn you atrophy. Working out with the family was fun though. The weather was about 30 degrees, toddler was bundled up, we traded off pushing the stroller. The funny thing with not running in about two months – it is cold here now. I have a few other cold weather working out items to dig out and have easily accessible (running gloves, Fitbloggin iBeanie, running scarf, Yak Trax, long-sleeve wicking shirts, etc.)
I will be playing it day-to-day with my workouts. Strengthening is a priority with more #2weekchallenge, getting back to holding some of my yoga asanas more and whatever else I can toss in there comfortably.
Dinner planning this week:
- Sunday – Miso-glazed catfish and quinoa salad with almonds, avocado, and apricots
- Monday – sumthin’ raw (I’m gonna see what looks good at the store tomorrow)
- Tuesday – grilled cheese and split pea soup
- Wednesday – beans, rice, veggies, toasted almonds
- Thursday – baked potato w/ toppings
- Friday – chickpea, couscous, fennel, and orange salad
- Saturday – sumthin’ raw
breakfasts (hot grains, smoothies, eggs and veggies) + lunches (leftovers, salads)
How has Type II diabetes affected your life?
I saw my stepfather not have the best quality of life due to “the SUGAR.” He was at the point of losing toes and a limb before he passed away. It was rough watching him suffer. Diabetes was only part of his suite of illnesses, but it was an eye-opener to me of what that disease could do to a person.
This post is sponsored by Better’n Eggs and I’m writing this to be entered into a giveaway hosted by Mamavation – a community dedicated to obesity prevention & weight loss for women

Your menu looks AMAZING, Kia. AMAZING.
There’s no smooth transition to this, though: your stepfather’s story is heartbreaking, and it must have been so hard on you. Thank you so much for sharing it. <3
Boy it can be hard to take our own advice, but you are so right. Listen to your body. You know what you can and can’t do and ease back into things carefully. I hate to see you down, but it will be a great climb back up..what an adventure, right?!
I owe a lot of my success to the strength training. You have to walk before you can run…although if our mind had legs we probably could speed up the process. I really shouldn’t stay up so late because I think I am funny, haha.
Luv you dearly!
I don’t like the snow on the ground by you, but sure do like to see your face – Hold yourself back (right, HAHA)
Go Kia, go Kia!!
Your meal plans always fascinate me. I love to read them and now I want grilled cheese. Thank goodness it’s lunchtime! Remember those babysteps and to keep listening to your body!
Menu plan sounds delicous. Keep up the great job. Have a good week.
I am going to reference your cold weather running gear, need more than my cold weather shirt and pants. Once again your meal plan has me drooling and hungry, glad it is dinner time. You look fantastic, have a great week.
keep having fun while you are getting back to where you were!
