VLAWWG

It has been an interesting week.  I took off for a few days to hang with my niece and talk all things WEDDING with her.  We rode bikes, ate veggie food, I tri-trained, and were plain silly.  There was some crazy stuff involved too – my first night there I was handed a mug of cheap sangria and Tapatio flavored Doritos. LOL, I had no idea that such a beast was on stores.  They were pretty good but I half-joked that they most likely had at least 1/2 a dozen ingredients that would give my son ADD.  I don’t see myself buying them but they will be a fond memory of this trip.

My niece is having a simple outdoor wedding with a lot of DIY touches.  One of our big projects this weekend was to make paper.  There will be a post coming up with that process.  I made paper for my wedding invites and actually blogged about it back in the day.

The other fun thing is that my son has decided to hate on veggies in the last week. SIGH. We will be going in hyper-mode with kale and other veggie offerings this bump him out of this phase.

My tri is in THREE weeks. I have my training to do with the Hal Higdon 8-week plan.

Food this week will be plenty.  I am planning coconut curry chicken, dal, collard greens with raisins, stir fry veggies, sesame kale, pan seared zucchini, and big ass salads.

I would appreciate if you enter the Purple Love giveaway (a month supply of Nature’s Path Love Crunch and Sambazon Acai + OJ) on this site and vote for me for a Refuel with Chocolate Milk Grant.  Thank you.

So August is flying through, has everyone else been moving around so much their feet barely touch the ground?

  1. But you know what? One of those delish yet god awful Doritos once in a while? Big deal. I love that about this post. I have found so often with people that if they don’t get it perfect ALL THE TIME it makes them feel bad enough to give up. And I hate that. I can’t imagine EVER recommending that they TOTALLY give something up 100% of the time. Because when they find themselves consuming it, guilt comes with it.
So. I loved how you just chalked it up to the circumstance of that evening and moved right on. That, to me, is inspirational.

    1. Yeah I suppose this is the joy of not being a weight-loss blogger. I don’t freak out with “slip-ups.” I have crowned my niece’s fiance a brilliant junk food king… cheap sangria and Doritos – he is such a dirtbag (in a loving way).

Especially with endurance training these days I EAT! I just try to make the calories count for something (kind earth values, buy local values, nutrient density, etc.)

It is funny how kids can love something one day and hate it the other day.
The menu for the week sounds great. Eat a little bit of everything, even doritos, but in moderation.

  3. So glad you had some well deserved fun family time. I haven’t made paper since junior high, I’m looking forward to your post. I’m sure your sweetie will come around quickly on the veggie hating. Good luck with the training. I too fell victim to the doritos this week, glad it is fleeting. Big hugs!

  4. Sounds like you had a great last few days, I know you will do great at the Tri

  5. Sounds like you had a great weekend. DIY weddings can be a lot of fun. Those Doritos are probably something my husband will end up bringing home.

  6. I can’t wait to hear about the paper. I might have to search back through your blog, too. I have a hidden Martha Stewart side… and I adore learning how to make things for myself. Just wish I had oodles o time to play.

Glad to hear you had a great time. Best of luck with your training. I look forward to hearing how it goes. I forget if you have done them before? Have a great week.

  7. Homemade paper sounds fun! I love simple weddings, they’re much more fun! (Mine was outdoor too, I loved it). Sounds like you’re having a busy but fun time. Good luck with your training, can’t wait to hear about your tri!

  8. Love seeing you have just silly time. Thank You for talking to me last week. It helped. XO

  9. Everything in moderation, including moderation itself! If you’re eating lots of salads, veggies and training for a tri, then enjoy your sangria!

  10. You had me at cheap sangria…sometimes a little foolish indulgence is a good thing. Keeps us human and reminds us why we don’t indulge more often.

I can’t believe your tri is so soon!!!!

Don’t worry about the boy and his veggies, he’ll get back to ’em. Mine likes to protest every now and then to assert his independent self but he always comes back to his mama and her ways 😉
