VLAWG – from 12,000 feet

The madness of being busy will be slowing a bit soon.  EVO Conference is this week and then I am done with any traveling and conferences for a while.  I think my next couple of months hold a backpacking trip with a buddy, Warrior Dash, the Iron Girl sprint triathlon, another backpacking trip, and then the Denver Rock n’ Roll half marathon.  I had planned a trip out to L. A. for a photo project but am postponing that a little bit to simply be local and savor the weather here.  L. A. seems a better option when winter hits hard here.

Anyway, this week is EVO. Wow! Please say hi and let’s hug if you are going.  I am co-leading the vlogging workshops with Jenny from Jenny on the Spot and Lamar from Black and Married with Kids.  I am also leading a yoga session on Saturday sponsored by Apartment Guide.  There are prizes to be drawn at the yoga session including SIX two-day passes to the Universal Orlando resort and a spa giveaway at the Canyons Resort.  I hope you pre-registered because the event is SOLD OUT!

With this week creeping up my week’s plan is a bit short.  I am cutting back crossfit a lot to prep for my tri and half.  I am STRONG.  I can “easily” grab womens records at my gym so do not need to keep challenging myself with plated racks.  No crossfit this week.  Instead running, swimming, yoga, and teaching yoga.  I plan to take my New Balance Trail Minimus to Park City to run a bit – altitude train ahead of the Warrior Dash.  I am also doing one altitude run locally before hitting the road.

For food – tonight for the 4th is carne ssada with grilled veggies, black beans and corn tortillas.  For dessert we will be having watermelon with basil and sea salt as well as sipping on blueberry lemonade through the day (real blueberries and lemons). Breakfast while at home is steel cut oats, nuts, and fruit.  Lunch is leftovers and salads.  Dinner tomorrow is brown rice, onions, peppers, and turkey sausage with a salad.  Wednesday night is a big ass salad with grilled chicken.

This past week was great with the crossfit and running.  I had some less than ideal “going hardcore” setbacks though – I pulled another chunk of skin off my hand lifting, bruised my arm, bruised my clavicle, and gashed some skin off my knee that I kept re-opening.  None of that is sexy.  But I still wore cute dresses.

Have a great week everyone.  The 4th is only a reminder to me to take the time to prep the yummy produce.  There is no reason not to eat well while fresh fruits and veggies are in season.  Please tell me you went fruit and veggie crazy this weekend.

  1. Whew… I’m tired just reading everything you have planned. Have fun at Evo! I’m a little sad I’m missing it this year. Just got home from Type A Conference and it was just too much traveling so quickly. I can’t wait to hear how your backpacking trips go. They sound exciting. Watermelon with basil sounds good, never tried that before.
