6 june 2011 update + BATS!!!

VLAWG with 128% more bats

* I will be doing a separate Fitcation recap with all the awesomeness of the weekend.

Fitness update :

  • teaching 7 yoga classes this week (subbing for friends + my own classes)
  • Crossfit was a no go last week to let my calf heal up a bit but I am back at it 3x this week
  • Running was a no go last week except for some jogging in the Bolder Boulder 10K, easing into it this week and testing out my New Balance Minimus Trail shoes

Endurance event update (I have 3 races I am registered for so far):

  1. The Warrior Dash on 20 August that will be play but there will be summer training camps to get used to altitude training.
  2. The Iron Girl sprint triathlon on 27 August with online training buddy Ciao Mom – I wanted to do this event last year but was newly post-partum so volunteered handing out goodies and marking bodies
  3. Denver Rock n’ Roll 1/2 Marathon 9 October – I want to do well… did 2:35 last year with walking after 9 miles and shortly after I had baby, this year it is real.

Food:

Let me just say I feel like I am coming off of a junk hangover.  I appreciate all the sponsors for Fitcation but am used to eating real food with minimal ingredients.  “Healthy” processed food is a better option vs. other processed food but I need to cleanse this week to get back to normal. After we finished I did head to Magnolia Cafe for a bean entree, it was a good start (yes that is cheese, but that is also a cornmeal cake for grain).

There will be lots of produce, legumes, grains, and water.

I am also considering attending a Creating Healthy Change event tonight with Robyn O’Brien regarding our food system and all the craziness that has screwed so many people with food allergies and obesity.

Tuesday Dinner: Black Beans, Brown Rice, Salsa Verde
Wednesday: Mixed Green Salad w/ Roasted Chicken and Vegetables
Thursday: Wheat Pasta with Caramelized Onions, Blue Cheese and Walnuts + salad
Friday: Kebabs (protein and veggie) with Gazpacho
Saturday: Hummus, Pita, Fruit, Grilled Veggies
