MOVING MY BODY

Crossfit and strength training is going well.  Last week I did an unassisted pull up, dead lifted 165 pounds, and did my squat reps at 135 pounds.  Perhaps the most annoying thing about these workouts is I leave the gym and see my husband who I pester with, “feel my arms”, “feel my abs”, and so on.

Yoga is going well.  As far as teaching I had a slight scare last week when one of my prenatal ladies who works out often got a bloody nose in my class and wasn’t feeling so great.  She has been pushing herself outside of my class with her own strength training and she has been on my mind all weekend.  I love teaching regular, mommy/me, and prenatal classes.  I got to see a prenatal client outside of the studio at the grocer yesterday and she told me the sex of her baby  from her ultrasound after Friday’s class.  It was really sweet for my husband to see the kind of people I interact with in my classes and a glimpse of that world.

As far as my yoga I am not binding as close as I wish – still need to lose some size.  However my balances are going great – my Natarajasana had the leg way in the air over my shoulder.  I need to work on my dolphin a lot this week with kick-ups for scorpion.  I also need to get back to some crow – I pulled it out a while back but should play with that alignment for ease.

My cardio is crap right now.  That virus and ensuing inner ear infection from early March still have me feeling a bit blah when I get my heart rate up for too long.  I have a feeling May is going to be LONG with 5 events (urban race, 9k, 5k, 5k, and 10k).  On a super awesome note – my husband finally began his swim lessons and was awesome (and not too bad on the eye).  Even though watching him in his boy short speedos for the hour does not seem like a waste of time I am thinking I may lap swim while he is in his lesson if my dad is willing to come down to the pool to watch baby for that hour.

This week’s schedule:

MON crossfit a.m./yoga p.m.

TUES run

WED crossfit

THUR run

FRI run a.m./yoga p.m.

SAT crossfit

SUN swim or rest

EATING

I have been kicking butt with my nutrition with only two minor hiccups. 1 – I feel I am getting back into a groove with my pre-workout nutrition for hard workouts but I am not preparing my post-workout nutrition ahead of time.  This needs to be a focus for this week.  2. My sugar cane allergy is doing funny awesome things – it was greatly reduced during pregnancy, came back one month post-partum, and this week I was also the a**hole who went out with a group of women to a greasy spoon where everyone ordered carb heavy foods with fries and I got a cobb salad with dressing on the side.  Balance, right?

A funny thing this week, I have been eating more animal source protein than usual in the last week.  The heavy weights I am doing with crossfit definitely requires some muscle repair so I am not too bothered.  I figure it may be this way for the 3 months I may be doing these workouts.

This week I want to add in more raw food (which is funny with the extra animal protein going on).  What can I say… I am magic.

I got stuck posting because I could not make a schedule to save my life.  Here is some of what we will eat though:

gallo pinto, cayenne cabbage slaw, roast chicken, spinach cocoa nib salad, quinoa salad, zuchinni spring rolls with lime-cashew dipping sauce, chili on baked sweet potatoes, green smoothies, kale, squash, and looking for raw salads like this (if you know of any you like pass them my way).
