VLOG
Short and not necessarily sweet. There has been a plague going around and I may be the last one in my family to get it but I am fighting. I refuse!
All our meal planning this week was for nothing. My husband was so sick that everything was basically high-glycemic, simple BRAT carbs for him and his SAD tummy bug.
However this is a new week, so what ya gonna do… mire in things not working out or plan to make this week better? Easy. We had brekkie today then got on with our meal-planning for the week.
SAT – Potato Leek Soup
SUN – Chicken Curry
MON – Spinach Salad w/ beast (and surprise dessert)
TUES – rice, beans, salsa, veggies
WED – Chicken Curry (leftover)
THURS – Stir Fry heavy on veggies w/ brown rice
FRI – SAUSAGE FEST (I dunno know, my hubby said “sausage” so I’ll plan something)
Last week was also consumed with caring for my guys and not working out. I am not mad about this at all, those were simply the circumstances. This week will be a P90X week and cranking on my home yoga practice.
Happy Valentine’s Day. I hope the day goes well for you. As for me I have learned not to be disappointed if my partner does not meet my expectations for holidays, I check in with him to see if he has plans for us. He is not a mind-reader so I see what he expects. If we are not on the same page or if he does not have anything planned and I care I tell him what I want. Do you also find yourself planning celebrations like this? Please tell me your method to avoid disappointment over expectations. Now as my gift to you all… Teen Girl Squad!! VALENTIMES!!

Good luck avoiding the sickness!
I’m personally not a fan of the vday celebrating, so I simply offer some love to the boy and that’s about the extent of our festivities. Doesn’t help much that his job has him working crazy hours & our schedules have us only seeing each other for a short time before he leaves for work every night.
I hope your Valentines Day is exactly what you want it to be, without you having to plan it all out. *hugs*
Thank you. I am very chill on VDay. I asked for some more washable nursing pads (first time I have asked for a Vday present) and am making dinner and dessert. We may go loco and head for a walk too since the weather is nice. The staple of Vday every year… homemade cards and poems for each other.
The plague has been around my house too 🙁 I will be so happy when it is warm and spring! I hope you and your family feel better soon.
Sausage fest sounds pretty awesome to me lol.
We are going out to dinner today for Valentine’s day (and taking our son because we don’t have a babysitter) I am going to be out of town tomorrow and the rest of the week. I used to think V’day was a big deal but I don’t really care that much anymore.
Hope you have a great week!
Hm, I’m confused over the expectation issue that most people have. I’m with you, I ask! 🙂 I’m not really into the surprise thing, maybe it’s part of my personality. I like to know what’s going on and where we’re going (if anywhere). Being a part of such a large family (we have 6 kids), the unexpected ALWAYS happens. So it’s nice to know things in advance. I’ll save the surprises for AFTER all the kids are grown and moved away.. 🙂
First of all I want to say thank you for the support you have given me! Good luck with no getting the yuckies that everyone seems to be getting.
For the Valentines thing… I stopped expecting anything after 7 years I know he isn’t going to do anything even if I ask. So I have come to accept that for what it is. I normally pick something I like for dinner or that I want..
Take care! I hope that the plague passes you over… maybe hang some garlic around your neck? Lol.
You menue sounds delish. Would love to hear your recipe for potato leek soup as I am a total leek enthusiast. This week we are doing a leek & mushroom V-day pizza (heart shaped, of course!).
My hubby & I also make plans together for the holidays. With little kids we aren’t really big on surprises, just low-key relaxing plans. Have a good one and take care.
I am feeling so much better. Will be back to 110% tomorrow. Thanks (I smell like I have garlic around my neck LOL!)
The template for our soup is from epicurious. It turned out really good. I served it with Wasa Rye Crisps, mustard, harder cheeses, and pears slices.
Ah, that is not fun at all. I hope this will be a better week. I am with you on Valentines – I’ve been married for way too long to be surprised. Hugs and kisses
So sorry the boys were sick…hope everyone is feeling better soon! We have had the sickies the last couple weeks here too. Laughing my butt off on your teen girls valentimes. I try not to expect too much from Valentines as my hubby is not a big celebrater of any holiday. That way I am happy when he does do something. He forgot my birthday a couple weeks ago, and when he realized it was my bday, he went shopping and came home with tons of stuff and a valentines card with a receipt to go pick up my Moms ring he had made. I guess he figured he better do it early so he wouldnt forget that too.
I so hope you don’t get sick… it’s the worst, especially when you have kids and so much going on!
I know we were talking about it on twitter the other day, and I’m really pretty laid back about Valentine’s day (and most holidays) too! You’re right – they’re NOT mind readers, you have to ask for what you want.
I hope this week goes well for you!
We are doing poems this year too (at my suggestion!). I thought it might be fun.
I manage expectations quite easily because I know what kind of guy I married. He is just not the grand romantic gestures type – never has been. I learned this when dating so I’m not disappointed. He will gladly go along with anything I want to do but I have to make my wishes known.
I do the same thing as you. I let him know what I think is reasonable, and I check in with him. I’m not a huge v-day lover, so I’m pretty easy to please. Anything that says, I remembered today was valentine’s day is good for me! 🙂
Good luck staying healthy!
My husband and I took in a movie and some alone time while the kids were at school. Better than any candy, card or flowers.
Hey girl! hope the plague passes you over soon. We have been miserable. i had it on valentines. Hubby has it today. Most kids already had it.. only 2 who haven’t or got a tiny tummy ache and 1 a headache so I don’t know if their symptoms were from the bug or not.. so we shall see if they get it full blown or not.
hubby asked for it.. he refused to go without his kisses. haha With me being sick we haven’t officially celebrated together. I was too sick, and would have tonight but he was sick so we will when he feels better.
He did give me roses, and a teddy bear and candies which made me happy, especially seeing as I was under the weather. Would like a candle lit dinner but who says it has to happen on the 14th day of feb?? so no worries here. We enjoyed being together.
Keep up the good work! I hope that you manage to avoid whatever is going around and that your family is on the mend. Your menu looks so yummy!
hope you don’t get sick and thank you for commenting your a real motivator hugs
Oh man I know what you mean about the plague. I am so sick of it. When I think they are over it, they get it again and share with everyone. It does throw everything off.
