VLOG 🙂
What a week! My back never got better 🙁 I think it is related to my cycle though because this week I had the strongest cycle since I have had baby. I have been stubborn/stupid and not wanting to go to a doctor. However I will be seeing a team of folks beginning this week and have massage therapists I can see via the yoga studio I work for. I hope whatever is going on is no big deal.
I get sad when I am not feeling well and this hurt back has sent me spiraling a bit by reminding me of my car accident. When I am sad I get withdrawn IRL and this week have just been trying to deal with taking care of me and my babe.
On more positive notes my baby is developing right on target and very curious about non-breastmilk foods. He now goes in his chair that attaches to a table and has been trying a variety of veggies, fruits, and meats. I bring this up because I will be altering my diet a bit to include more veggies in my breakfast.
I am going via Dr. Greene’s Feeding Baby Green for this advice to take advantage of the window of opportunity with the food he eats. I like lightly sauteed greens with eggs but want more veggie in the a.m. suggestions. I already do green smoothies but consider that hiding veggies since the taste of spinach is masked by whatever fruits go in the smoothies. Do you have any savory green vegetable breakfast suggestions for me to try?
This week my goals are:
- Getting my back to a functional place again. Who knows if I’ll workout much. The pool may be my salvation in this silliness.
- Getting those green veggies into my breakfasts. They are in my lunches and dinners but I want to make my three solid meals a day a nice learning experience for my baby.
- Developing my vision project. I should have some down time to play with hubby home from the Tgiving break.
Here is my scale pic for the week. Wish me luck in this next week to have some more results. I may piss myself with excitement when I break into the 150s, however I am looking forward to the MiLi Challenge being over so that my scale will be put away for a while.
-0.8 pounds
Congrats to Heather for being SOTW this week! Heather is super consistent, awesome with the real food, and nice to get advice from. She also rocked the Mama Guns challenge recently.
This week’s Blogging Carnival is sponsored by Subway and they want to know Commit 2 Fit Challenge goals. I’ll throw out one that I have not told anyone about yet, I want to return to the triathlon world next year. I would love to do a sprint triathlon. The Aflac Irongirl folks do not announce the 2011 schedule until January but if they return to Boulder for a Sprint Tri I want to do it. I volunteered and body-marked at the event this past year but was truly longing to be participating as an athlete. I did the inaugural Denver Rock n’ Roll half marathon this year and plan to return next year, but want to return to at least one tri before that happens.
And finally SECRET SANTA!!!! I thought about doing this via a 3rd party site but wanted to give folks the option of homemade or bought gifts, and divide between US and Canada ladies. Anyway, do the spreadsheet. I’ll have the info but won’t share with anyone except your Santa. Sign up by 29 November. I’ll send out your gift recipient by 1 December. I only ask that you ship by 15 December.

OMG I’m so excited for you to do a triathlon! Huge milestone for you babe. Sorry your injury is making you feel sad. I love you!!!!
Sorry to hear you aren’t feeling well *hugs* Sending healing vibes your way.
Oh what I would do to eat in your kitchen. I have NEVER thought about having veggies for breakfast. Now my brain is trying to think about the possibilities. I have tried to incorporate more fruit, never thought about veggies….
I like roasted in the oven asparagus wrapped in panchetta and seasoned with light olive oil, salt, and pepper. That feel breakfasty to me. I usually don’t buy the panchetta though and I freeze my asparagus when we cut pick it.
Sorry about you back bringing your mood down. I’ve been the same way since my accident too. Even though it has been almost 15 years now, it sneaks back in sometimes. Hopefully time will make it a bit easier.
You are such a strong woman and you are doing amazing and fun things. Keep up the awesome work!
You are so inspiring. I feel like a horrible example for my kids because of some of the things they see me do (eat), yet I continue to do it in front of them. I hope that your back starts feeling better, and cant wait to see your scale pic! You are doing awesome!
I hope your back gets better soon!
I use a ton of spinach and other green veggies in egg whites (just enough to hold the veggies together)
Thanks for all you do for Mamavation! I love the secret santa idea!
I hope your back is feeling better soon. No fun to have the motivation but no ability. The water can really help though.
As for breakfast… this may not sound very breakfast-y, but I have lived abroad and rice was often a breakfast food. small bed of brown rice and then top with sauteed chard & onions with a bit of stock. When it is almost finished I make a little nest in the pan and poach an egg. I love our fresh eggs!
If you like seaweed, try miso soup with breakfast… I love the minerals and nutrients in a fresh cup of it.
Hope you have a fabulous week!
Hope you feel better this week! I love to pile broccoli slaw or plan broccoli into my egg whites!
oh I am terrible about veggies in the morning. The only time I get them in is by adding some peppers, onions and mushrooms to my eggs.
I can totally see you doing the triatholon by next year! Hope you feel better soon!
Just getting back into the Mamavation loop. Hope I can be in the Secret Santa thing. I signed up.
This time of year I get so run down w/ all the stuff to do for the family and everyone else. It could be the holidays. I’m always tired around the holidays.
But about your family. It makes total sense that you had an awful family because you are so extraordinary. I know a lot of people like that. Ironically.
Way to go on the triathalon goal!! I know you’ll be awesome.
Also, I signed up for Secret Santa!
I love all kinds of veggies cooked w/ my eggs. tomatoes, onions, zucchini, asparagus, mushrooms, salsa. I love the idea above w/ panchetta and asparagus, that sounds yummy
ps I miss commenting on your blog, I am trying to get better about it again.
Sorry about your back. I can totally understand how that brings down the mood, felt that last week when I hurt my hip.
Thanks so much for the shout out, Kia! I’m SO thankful for the Sistahood and all the amazing women that I have the privilege of knowing.
Your Thanksgiving plans sound awesome – enjoy!!
Love you, Kia. Just watched your video and glad you’re taking care of yourself. You look very fresh after your facial!! Hope your back continues to mend…
Swim. Bike. Run.
Get back on that Tri horse! You’ll do great.
For breakfast, I like to make breakfast burritos (egg & cheese) and add some salsa for veggies.
I’m glad your back is feeling better. I’ve had a lot more problems with mine since the return of the dreaded cycle when Aiden was 7 months old. Massage has helped me a lot and just doing lots of stretching and deep core strengthening. We do have a lot to be thankful for don’t we? I’m reminded of that every time I see my little guys fuzzy head 🙂
you so deserved some pampering and thank you for organizing the secret santa intiative hopefully later we an find out who our seret santa is. hope your back gets better and i know you are going to reach your goals cause your awesome
I do love my veggies in the morning, but mostly it’s just a variation of eggs and greens. I guess I’m not very creative!
Hope your back starts feeling better soon. It’s no fun to be injured.
Have a great Thanksgiving and make sure to spend lots of time with your loved ones.
Hi Kia, Happy Thanksgiving!
so nice to see you with family and your baby is adorable. I see from your blog you are taking a great path in life. But I think you are very hard on yourself! Be kind, those first years are exhausting and a lot of work.
The girls and I are well. I have some stories to tell you…I’d love to be in touch you can email me at fefer5@comcast.net
I still live in the East Bay
