It is natural biology that as my body develops with my babe my instincts gear towards motherhood. My husband is also going through his changes as he prepares to be a father. The one thing we are not doing is going overboard with a constant infection of babies rabies. We are looking forward to meeting our little one in 6 months, but given that this is our first baby we are also relishing in the freedom and narcissism we currently have because soon, POOF, it will be gone.
I have never considered myself a girly girl, I took care of myself, but have never been excessively vain or indulging. I have been exploring this pampering and revering side of my being lately and it has been fun. I had planned on pampering myself during pregnancy for years. Like all things I prepared with before I became pregnant I began a pampering stockpile months prior to trying to conceive. I think it all started early this year when I won a Mama Mio Supermama Kit.
I did not have any friends I could give the kit to at the time so I stocked it in the bathroom knowing that my husband and I would start trying for a baby later in the year. Next up was a trip to my local Sephora when I learned that one location was getting rid of their Carol’s Daughter products. I went home and gathered all my random Sephora gift cards I had laying around and returned to buy all the sweet Carol’s Daughter yummies I could from that store. I think perhaps my favorite that I just opened this week is the Ecstasy Body and Bath Oil.
It has not stopped with these products. I bought eye shadow last week, I do not think I have ever owned eye shadow before, but I can now do a grey smokey eye. I have been playing with my jewelry more lately, last night it was a pink freshwater pearl necklace I made tied with a red satin ribbon. My simply manicured nails are now polished with a color other than nude. Today I am sporting a glossy black.
Indulging myself like this helps me bring out how beautiful this pregnancy is. How beautiful I am carrying a baby. It is fun spending the time with lotions and baths admiring my belly and body. They are beautiful as they change. Playing with my make-up, jewelry and hair accentuates the new brand of mommy confidence I am developing in my face. I am up for this goddess transition.
As a quick note, not everyone has the means to justify spending money on girly pampering all the time. There are so many simple things you can do at home that won’t require the companies I listed. Here is a therapeutic aromatherapy bath soak I love making that is pennies on the dollar…
Citrus Rosemary Bath Soak
2.5 c. epsom salt (go to Target, Walgreens, etc. for best prices)
2 tsp. fresh chopped rosemary
3 drops essential citrus oil, food grade citrus oil, or sliced dried peel of 1 orange
Combine ingredients in a sealed jar for scents to infuse in salt. Run a warm bath and add 1/4 c. to 1/2 c. of bath soak. Slide in. Just make sure water is 102 degrees F or less for mamas to be. Finish soak with a moisture treatment of high-quality almond, grapeseed, or olive oil from your kitchen.

Kia, you looked simply radiant last night! Girly looks good on you 🙂 Ohhh, and I was admiring that necklace, too–nice job!
Thanks. I made these for our bridal party. We had one person who is allergic to most metals and this necklace was made so that only pearls and satin ribbon would touch her neck. I made sure to make an extra for myself.
I wore this particular piece to support @kristinebrite who tragically lost her daughter #Cora and was asking people to wear pink yesterday.
First I want to say that you are so right to enjoy the freedom you have now.
Second – save some of those pampering things for after the baby is born! And don't be afraid to take the time for yourself then too.
