In my bid to become Mamavation mom I went to the doctor today. It was a new doctor for me, one in the family practice associated with my son’s pediatrician. She was so cool. She is pregnant and pretty active.
After intros and a review of health history we got down to the reason for my visit. I originally made the appointment just to get a pertussis and flu shot. Then I told her I wanted a note for a virtual boot camp. In my health evaluation she did not say anything about my weight but smiled and said, “good for you” very enthsiastically regarding wanting to get in better shape. I told her the note needed to clear me for vigorous activity and include a minimum number of calories a day for a mama exclusively breastfeeding a 4-month old. This is the note.
Whoa mama! I don’t know if you can read that, but it does say 2600 kcal/day. When I first had the baby and was trying to gauge my caloric needs I had a hard time reaching 2000 and eating clean. However, this is all part of the Mamavation requirement I had to do.
As with everything I have been posting with this blog my main priority is feeding my baby. If my milk supply is affected I will adjust accordingly.
My note is submitted, I have been doing activity as requested by Leah since submitting my application, I will play on International Fitness Day on Saturday. All that is left is a few more days of voting then the twitter party on Monday with the announcement of who the moms are that have been selected for this campaign.

I think you are so inspiring! What a beautiful person you are – inside and out! Good luck!
Wow, that is a lot of calories! How in the world do you plan on doing that?
Good luck in your bid!
Wow, 2600 calories! That's a lot of healthy food. I've been playing phone tag w/the doctor's office to get my paperwork but I should have it today. (I'd better!)
Good luck to you and all of the fellow finalists.
Suz, I have no idea. Good thing there is a nutrition consult that helps tailor our meal plans for our needs. All I can say is that almond butter and avocados are my friends 🙂
Holy Moly that's a lot of calories. I"m pretty sure I never had that much. I'm glad you got an amount from your doctor to base your eating on so as not to affect your supply.
