On the real, I am a little freaked for my half next month. Thankfully I have done a number of half marathons in my life so I am not intimidated by that but the fact that I did little cardio in the last two weeks due to the fires and was already on a tight schedule after having my baby three months ago… I know it isn’t going to be pretty. I think at this point I may just use it as a long training exercise with my heart rate monitor training.

The good news is that I am committed to doing the Las Vegas Rock n’ Roll half with some girlfriends in 11 weeks.

Who knows, maybe the fate gods are doing me a huge favor in having me go chill after having my baby. I mean overall health is the priority right? I am feeling pretty good this week – rested, leaner, energetic, etc.

I am down 1.5 pounds to 168 pounds again. I explained the yo-yo stuff in my vlog. When my milk production dips a bit putting on some rapid weight ramps it right up again. My milk supply and baby are my priorities.

This week I want to say a HUGE congratulations to Pamela M. Kramer for Sista of the Week. I have been acquainted with this woman for a little while now and look forward to her posting and music every week. Other than that I want to give a quick mention to Subway for being our new sponsor. Woohoo! I love their Oven Roasted Chicken Breast sammich.

  1. WAy to go with losing 1.5 lbs! It is so nice to see you with more energy and a more positive spin on things. I think letting this 1/2 marathon next month be a "welcome back to running" event and not getting to stressed about it, is a good idea. Let it be a Starting point to see what you need to focus on. So good to hear you and baby are doing well!

  2. Woohoo. I love your attitude. You're so positive. I love "it's not going to be pretty" Ha ha. I pictured you sobbing, make up running down your face as you run. Hee hee!! You'll do great!! Wish I were doing that half too!! Only up to running 3.-something miles though.

  3. thanks for the compliment and hope that you have a great week loved your video update thanks for sharing

  4. Don't stress! I stopped running halfway through pregnancy because of back issues. I re-did C25K in Jan and now I'm up to 10 miles with a planned 1/2 in late-October. There is no fear in the distance for me anymore even though I haven't run that far in forever. It is almost like my body never forgot how to endure. It hurts a bit, yes, but there is some sort of muscle memory there. You'll do fine!

Just a note, your blog is being blocked at my job! It sucks. The evil Barracuda web filter has it categorized as "Social Networking". Not sure how that happens but others might have this issue!

  5. Random, you have amazing cheekbones!

I think I say this every week but hats off to you for showing the amazing powers of the female body. Best of luck to you as you continue to prepare for the half marathon. I'm doing a 5K (walking) and nervous, lol.

  6. You are so amazing!! I am excited to follow your training and progress with your 1/2 next month! 🙂 Maybe someday we will be able to run t ogether 🙂

  7. WOW! You are truly amazing… i may have said the same thing last week but YOU ARE! Good luck on your 1/2 although I know you'll do GREAT!

  8. It's really tricky finding the balance between breast-feeding, diet, and exercise, especially when it's all new to you. I think you'll do great because you're so in tune with your body and listening to it. Don't worry about the half. Like you said, baby is number one priority and the rest will be.

  9. You are so inspiring to me Kia!! What an excellent Mom you are to keep things in a proper perspective. That's exciting that you get to go run the half in Vegas! Thanks for all your support and help along the way!

I am so in awe of you being able to keep motivated and healthy while nursing a little one! It was always hard for me to find that happy medium between losing weight and making milk, and I mostly just focused on making milk. Anyway, thanks for being such an inspiration, I appreciate the advice and comments!
