VLOGGITY right after I worked out today.
Overall it was an interesting week. The low of the week is that my sugar cane allergy is back. On Wednesday I was doubled over puking and wheezing then dealing with a sore diaphragm the rest of the day. On Saturday when I went running I felt my throat was still a little constricted. Blech! Oh bother, the reduced immune system response lasted one month after pregnancy for me. Now back to being super diligent about not having any cane sugar in my food and back to making almost everything from scratch.
The high of the week, I went running. My midwife gave me clearance to do some strength-training and ab work (obliques and overall core only). I decided to start some easy cardio. As it is the cardio went great, it was easy. The rest of my body is needing to catch up now. My sacrum was sore that day as were my quads, my mid-back, my abdomen, my ankles… almost everything. A good night’s rest though and I was feeling very strong the next day. I will be running 3x a week for now with my slow as heck heart rate monitor training (trying to aerobically condition myself in the next year).
This week I will keep up my water (been easily doing 120 oz./day), gonna give meal planning a shot, will run 3x, and try to balance eating enough calories to fuel my body, breastfeed, and workout vs. eating good quality calories. It would be easy to eat enough by eating junk but I am trying to put quality in my body. I started off today with a Chiquita banana, so starting my day with produce helps get the day going in a positive direction with the whole food train.
Ever see the term GIGO… Garbage In, Garbage Out? Well what I eat helps literally fuel my baby and how he is developing. I don’t want to fuel him with garbage… he is EXCELLENT motivation to eat well.
Congrats to amazing women I know online… Jenny and Jess for kicking a$$ with week 1 of the Mamavation Bootcamp and to Lori for deserving the heck out of a Sister of the Week honor.

Wow. You are, um, like almost scary you're so amazing. I mean it in a loving, good way. Wow. (I know I already said that but it deserved two.)
You are a amazing woman Kia. I look up to you so much! The way you worked out during your pregnancy and here you are pushing yourself to continue even after birth..just amazing! I love u to pieces!
Rock on, Kia! That's so awesome, and I'm so happy for you to get right back into the swing of things…. even though it hurts a little!
You're so awesome, and I LOVE your little motivation for eating healthy!!!!
Congrats on your first run post-preggo! You are such an inspirational lady! Keep it up!
You're amazing Kia! And you have the best motivation to moderate your food ever, your little boy! I know that was all the encouragement I needed to get my act together! I swear, the benefits of breast-feeding never end!
Have a great week, keep working hard! I bow down to you, awesome mama that you are!

Girl you are so amazing to me! I wish I had your fortitude. Keep it up!
whoo hooo midwife released you (somewhat!)
That stinks about a sugar cane allergy! π However, it may be better and you will avoid any sugary foods? (with cane sugar anyway)
Have a great week. You amaze me!
You are such an awesome lady! I wish I had your drive after I had my girls. Good luck this week and I hope you are feeling better after your allergy attack!
You are awesome!! Remember to listen to your body as you get back into the groove of working out after baby! But of course, you already know that. π
Have a great week!!
You are amazing! If I had half the motivation you do, I'd be doing good!
ok you are so great wow is all I can say! I will be needing you to ick my butt back in shape after this baby!
I definitely need to keep thinking like you about GIGO and making sure my baby is getting the nutrition he/she needs too! Thanks for all your comments to me, sorry I have been lacking at comments back. I just cant seem to find enough time for the computer as I used to. I appreciate your thoughts on Kennedy…She is doing fairly well, just has had tons of follow up appts from her hospital stay that are keeping us busy.
You are doing great and loved the pictures of Bodhi!
Are you going straight back to running, or doing a run/walk program? A run walk program may help your legs/back etc strengthen and become accustomed to the pounding again. I know – it sucks, but it a stitch in time may save nine… (Says she who has injured herself way too many times from doing too much too soon…).
Great to see ya back at it!
PS – GIGO is exactly the motivation I need these days – my co-workers keep trying to sabotage & tempt me π
Ohhhh, dang…you were going to bring a sock puppet? That would have been soo cool! π Sorry u couldn't get on.
Janice, I am doing HRM training with the Maffetone 180 formula so to meet my heart rate and stay there I have to do some walking. It is a perfect run/walk blend for aerobic conditioning as I get my running legs back.
Well, it seems as though the other ladies claimed every apt adjective! You are a very inspirational and SMART Mama — I'm glad to see you approaching all of this wisely and slowly. Good for you and good for the baby. π
Ugh on the sugar cane allergy. No fun.
I remember my sacrum being very sore post-partum too and I had c-sections. Lots of stretching! Same for the abs.
So proud of you, Kia! You rock my socks!
Kia you are no joke! I can't wait to see you and hubby run the Skirt Chaser!
