the week of the bebeh

You would think we were nearing the end or something with how much attention the baby had this week.

Tues AM: 1st LLL meeting
Tues PM: 1st Childbirth Class
Thurs PM: midwife appointment
Thurs PM: New Father’s Circle
Thurs PM: breastfeeding cafe #bfcafe
Fri AM: 32 week ultrasound + consult

So with all this done, how is the baby? The baby is fine. I’ll post ultrasound pics later. Here is a link to one my husband snagged with his phone, and just like last time the baby was being a pikey and trying to fight with the transducer.

here is a pic of my interpretation of birth from our childbirth class

The meetings on Tuesday were o.k. Kind of dry. Informative. The best was a slide show on an old school carousel projector of the history of birth. I am hoping my midwife sends me my favorite image that captured the transition from our time of fear/respect for nature and midwifery to the age of reason where our understanding of mathematics and astronomy made us think we were omniscient and did not need to respect anything natural.

Thursday was really busy, so busy in fact that my husband forgot about his New Father’s Circle. The midwife appointment went well. I am 13 pounds above pre-pregnancy weight, baby’s fundal height is 31 cm, midwife thinks baby is just below 4 pounds right now and that me and the little one are doing fantastic.

This is of course not what the ultrasound clinic said. They are concerned for baby’s size and estimate it to be over 5 pounds and want me to be open-minded that baby may be too big for me to deliver naturally or at home. They also questioned whether I did a gestational diabetes exam, etc. It was the response from the high-risk clinic regarding our low-risk pregnancy that we had been anticipating. So we aren’t freaked out. Of course we’ll do what is best for baby but we trust our extremely experienced midwife in these affairs.

Perhaps the funniest part of this week was that I was a “greening” expert on a panel for MomItForward.com that pitted my time against the #bfcafe chat that I love to attend. I asked my husband to attend in my place and set him up on tweetgrid to attend his first twitter party. Not only did he attend that one but he also went to #getrealdiapers and the #gno I was at. He had a blast in those two hours and it was only much later on did he realize “gno” meant girls night out. Yeah, he got a little carried away.

I’ll post pics of me and baby. Like I wrote, we are doing fine. Both of us are active and doing well.
