President’s Challenge Program

I am sorry if this alienating my Canadian friends, I really do try to make this blog as inclusive as possible but this one is for USA folk.

Remember those crazy President Fitness Challenges you did as kids? Well did you know that they are around for adults too? Seriously – can you walk or run a mile and half, do some half sit-ups, push ups, and reach for your toes? Enter those accomplishments in to a handy data calculator with your height, weight, and waist circumference and there you go.

I entered data I took from this morning and scored in the 80th percentile overall. It is just a tool to find your baseline. Go here to take the challenge test.

Beyond the test you can earn a Presidential Active Lifestyle Award for being active 30 min/day for 5 days/week for 6/8 weeks.  It is that simple.  I have a triathlon in 6 weeks so I better be active for at least that amount of time.  I entered.  For finishing you can earn a certificate and emblem and there is a whole store of goodies you can sport along the way.

I started a group there for those wanting to PALA together from the Fitness Blogging community – Fitbloggers.  Please join if you sign up.

By joining the group I started does not exclude you from joining other groups as well.  I am also a member of the Competitor group too.  I hope you join up and encourage others to do so as well.

One of the great things about having a blog with fitness/health/wellness blog is that we really do have a reach with our collective audience.  This is one of those easy steps to encourage our online and IRL communities to be fit for health, happiness, or any other goals people are seeking.

Another awesome bonus is that you can set groups to challenge each other with this program too.  There are school challenges going on with schools setting groups for each other in the youngster category, but you can set co-worker challenges, etc.  Have fun with it along the way.

  1. Awesome! I will have to check this out! 🙂 I always enjoyed the Presidential Fitness Tests as a kid. I only disliked the “pull-ups or timed hang” – that was ROUGH 🙂

  2. I know this is shocking, but I was always one thing away from failing – every time. ha! I’m on a 20 minutes of anything every day – and I gotta say – the minutes add up! Plus it totally addresses my mental barrier from thinking I don’t have time or whatever….

  3. Very cool. Apparently Beachbody is being recognized with this program too. Looking forward to logging in my time for my official award and influencing others to do the same.
