I am considering applying for the Mamavation Mom campaign. Applications are due 6 October. The major criteria are that 1) I am overweight (CHECK!) 2) I am willing to put myself out there in a social media sort of way for the seven weeks of the boot camp (CHECK!) and 3) I am healthy enough to get medical clearance (CHECK!)
I am not a newbie to Mamavation, I have been in the Sistahood since I was three months pregnant. I have actually done really well and used the social media support to work my way towards a healthy home birth and then reaching my pre-pregnancy weight six weeks post-partum.
So by all accounts I don’t need to be a campaign mom since I am doing something right, but I am overweight so could use the support. I AM ON THE FENCE.
The big perks I am talking about are the coaching support:
1. Cynthia Pasquella – nutrition consultant
She is awesome!!! I was originally skeptical because she seems bubbly and sells a cleanse but she swayed me in less than an hour when she was on the Mamavation show one night. She promotes the long-term goal of eating REAL FOOD in lieu of supplements and gimmicks. She also delivers sound nutritional advice. I would be honored if she were my nutrition coach for the 7-week bootcamp. She will be offering a Comprehensive Nutrition Plan.
2. Pete Cohen – motivation consultant
Think Biggest Loser type stuff here. Pete is the motivation guy on England’s version of the Biggest Loser. He has heart, humor, and gets results from his clients. The campaign mom will get a subscription to Pete Cohen TV.
3. Tracey Mallet – fitness consultant
Tracey is fit and like Pete and Cynthia she gets results from her clients. She has been great at designing quick interval workouts for past Mamavation moms. The kind that you can do when you get brief breaks from your kiddos. She will be working with the selected moms to create a fitness plan.
4. Leah Sedgie – Head Mamavation Mom
Leah dropped 170 pounds following her own weight loss struggles and designed Mamavation to help other women who are in her old shoes. She is a sweetheart online but jokes how she will own your ass through the boot camp duration.
Then there are the sponsors… let’s just say SWAG. Thank you Subway, EA Sports Active, Earth Footwear, and Chef Requested. Here are all the perks of being selected as Mamavation Mom:
Fitness Plan by Tracey Mallett
Customized EA SPORTS Active workout for arms and legs
2 pairs of shoes fromEarth Footwear
EA SPORTS Active More Workouts, then the Wireless Active 2 in November
Weekly family meals at Subway (gift certificates)
Weekly family steak from Chefs Requested (portion controlled)
Gruve
Tae Bo DVDS
Tracey Mallett DVDS
Detox products from SoCal Cleanse
Subscription to PeteCohenTV
Support from Leah and Sistahood
I am still on the fence about applying because I would love for people that have been struggling with their weight for a while to get a chance to have this opportunity. I want to be the mamavation mom but I kind of still want to see if I can do this fitness thing on my own. In my own story I had my crappy car accident that led to me putting on my weight less than 4 years ago. Given my rehab from that, pregnancy, etc. it really was not that long ago and I have made great progress with my body.
So yeah, this is a non-committal blog post. I may or may not apply to be a mom this campaign. I do want YOU to apply if you are struggling with the weight and would appreciate the expert support the campaign can offer you. If you do apply leave a comment or find me on twitter so I can support you in your campaign!

Kia you would be a great Mamavation Mom. I think even when you feel like you know what you are doing and what to do to be healthy you can always learn more. Take Lisa for example she was already kicking butt w/ her weight loss before becoming a mamavation mom but she will definitely tell you the experience was worth it. I would love to apply again but this is just not a good time for me. Maybe next campaign if I am still needing the help.
DO IT!!! *big hugs*
I love this post. Those are all such wonderful reasons for ANYONE to apply! I threw my hat in the ring last night http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2FO7j_nW6k — join me!
