VLOG 😀
I wish I could be super excited but I am giving the side-eye to my -2.7 pounds this week. If it doesn’t screw with my milk supply then I’ll take it. Honestly there have been some days I am a complete piggy! When I do eat 100% clean I am still hungry (even with loads of good fats like avocado and olive oil). Last week I found salvation in a coconut milk ice cream sweetened with agave nectar. I don’t want to rely on food like that but this mama needs her calories. If I can feel satiated on fat and calories from avocado I’ll be super happy… well in addition to a balanced diet.
My big goal this week is REST! I am a new mom so not fully rested, which can be expected, but I can do more to ensure I get more sleep. Thank goodness I am apparently a pretty funny tired gal rather than a grumpmonster.
Well this week I need to get in 3 good runs ahead of the 5K on Saturday. I’m treating the 5K as a training run since I haven’t been running long enough to have a good time, thus no tapering. I also need to transition to a later running time since the run is at 5PM and today for example we have a high of 99 degrees. Wish me luck. My husband wants to catch me by the 4K mark. We’ll see what happens next Saturday.
Congrats @ShawneeH for SOTW. Best wishes to CRUSH IT for @ljenator and @jennydecki as they finish the last week of the current mamavation campaign. I have loved their vigor and humor. Also here is a link to Earth Footwear that is sponsoring this week’s blogging carnival. I have a pair of their fuzzy boots that served me well last winter, I do want another pair… a dressier pair.
See everyone at the show on Monday.

A huge congrats on the loss and good luck with your 5K!
Awesome, woman! I lost a ton of weight from nursing. It's like a great diet! But, yeah, you do need that extra 500 calories for producing milk. Sounds like you're on top of it!
I am so behind in my 5K training. I am at the beginning of week 6 in the C25k and the 5K is in 2 weeks, so I'll be able to get 2 more weeks in. I may just have to go REALLY slowly or walk part of it, so it's like no way to go but up from here!! Good luck Saturday!!!
Baby was going to TOWN on that boob! I think it's awesome that you're helping someone else out with breast milk. I know it's crazy, but it sells for a lot on the internet. Maybe in the future you can donate to the International Breast Milk Project! They send you a pump and bottles and all you do is fill them and freeze. When you have enough, they send you a label to ship it to their facilities. It's a great cause if you're interested! 🙂
Good luck at the 5k! Make him work!
Kia you are awesome. I agree..I think resting is good for you! You are a new mama and you need to rest! I hope your loss doesnt screw with your milk supply! HUGS
How sweet that the baby was eating lunch when you vlogged to us! I miss breastfeeding so badly!! Good luck with the 5k! I cant wait to hear the results!
Good luck with the 5K! I know you'll smoke your hubby in the race!
Have a great week and get plenty of rest!
Good luck in your race! I'm sure your hubby will be eating your dust. Regardless, have fun and try not to overheat!
Good luck in the 5k coming up this week and, winning the Earth Footwear!I can't wait to hear how it goes!
You are doing great! I found that my weight loss fluctuates from week to week with nursing (and just life in general). Could B be going through a growth spurt… which would mean more milk produced=calories burned=weight loss? 🙂
Again, I think you are very inspiring and awesome!! HUGS
GREAT job on the loss this week hun! Keep up the great work!!
@SeeLauraRun
Yes, new mama definitely needs her rest! Otherwise it will sneak up on you and feel like a house fell on you. Been there, done that!
Keep up the great work!
Great job this week! Good luck with your 5k!
Lots of luck at your 5K saturday…uggh couldnt even imagine running in those temps! Good luck getting some rest too!
I had that happen to me a couple of times when I was breast feeding. I don't know if it affected my supply or not. My youngest was always so skinny and tall. I heart u for taking such good care of yourself while u are taking care of ur precious bundle. 🙂
I had the same thing happen. I was so hungry I didn't know what to do. Baby was super fussy so I was restricted on what I could eat and I felt like I could have eaten an buffet. While I was adjusting, I did have some wonky weight loss weeks but it didn't affect my supply so you should be ok. Just keep drinking lots of water and getting those good fats in. If baby's having a growth spurt, you'll be nursing more, so you'll be more hungry. It's a crazy cycle but kuddo's to you for doing it properly! In the end, everything will even out. I'm on 6 months of nursing and counting!
Have fun at the 5k! and if hubby tries to pass you, just trip him 🙂
Good luck with your 5k on Saturday! Congratulations on your weight loss, and I hope that your milk supply isn't hampered by it. An avocado sounds a lot tastier than a stick of butter too! 🙂
What a multi-tasking mama!! Feeding da baby while filming a vlog. You're awesome, Kia!
I think I've mentioned before that I dropped 45 lbs in the first 10 weeks of breastfeeding, but I was also obese when I was pregnant, so I was able to lose that and not affect my milk supply. I was always so hungry too! Peanut butter and yogurt became a good snack to fill me up (still is!).
Good luck on the 5k!
As long as you are eating plenty and drinking plenty weight loss should not affect your milk supply. It becomes and issues only when "extreme dieting," which I am sure you are NOT doing. If you feel hungry eat, your body is telling you it is ok. A nursing mother needs more calories.
Great job on the loss!
Good luck with your 5K. I'm sure you will be a rock star!!!
Hope my hubby can still run, he gave himself a massive blister over the weekend 🙁
Ahh! Congrats on losing! I hear that breastfeeding is a monster calorie burner, so it's totally okay (and necessary) to eat a little more too! Best of luck with the 5K – you are a much stronger woman than I, so thanks for the inspiration! 🙂
I hope you are able to get some GOOD rest this week. That ice cream sounds good. I really like agave nectar.
