mamavation monday 16 august 2010

I will do a vloggy today after I run.

I weighed myself on Friday (which is what I plan to do so that I am motivated for the weekend) and I was 173.2. That is -1 pound. Woohoo for a 5-day effort on my part!

My running partner and I are formalizing our plan since we have 9 weeks to go until the Denver Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon. She is cool and inspiring to talk to about life. I have never been one for running partners but I am enjoying setting dates to hang with a girly, fun friend who also just wants to run around. Right now my eyes are set primarily on the Skirt Chaser 5K at the end of August so I can avoid being stomped like a mudhole by my husband.

I have no major successes or failures this week. Simply life going about and for not having a formalized plan I felt like I made decent choices with the balance of lack of rest for a new mom who is exclusively breastfeeding. Perhaps the biggest success is being open with my husband and my weight, goals, and where I am right now. I have not hid these things from him before, but never talked about them to him in detail.

Congrats to Kimberly (a.k.a. @christlikemommy) for SOTW! This week’s blogging carnival is sponsored by Boogie Wipes! I have some of their wipes and just yesterday at a potluck full of folks without kids we were talking about them since two of my friends have tried the grape ones I have in baby’s diaper bags. One said they were great like you had a grape lollipop jammed up your nose after you blew it, she said that was a good thing LOL.

You are so awesome. I wish I could get back to running… I'm hoping to try and finish Coucht o 5K in the fall. Congrats on the loss!

First of all, it goes without saying that I'm super proud of you for exclusively breastfeeding! I exclusively breastfed Hawk until he was 10 months old. We went on a cruise and my mom started feeding him breadsticks, so we had to start introducing foods then, but yeah, YOU GO GIRL! 🙂

Secondly, I'm so excited about the Skirt Chaser! I think you're going to ROCK IT!

Also, how wonderful is it that you've been open with your husband. You'd not believe how many people are NOT like that – married, no idea how much each other weighs or what they look like naked. I know a lot of married people who still have sex in the complete dark, under the covers, because they just don't want to open up to their spouses.. someone who vowed to stay with them through thick and thin!

    You're such an inspiration, girl!!

I hope you have a great week!

    CONGRATS ON THE LOSS!

  4. Congrats on the loss and major props for exclusively breastfeeding! I love that you are being open with your husband as well. It took me a long time to open up to my fiance, but our relationship is so much better because of it. I know he'll be honest with me about my progress and he's been super encouraging. I can't count how many times he has said that he's proud of me in the last week. 🙂

I can almost sense a little competition between you and hubby as well. Am I right? Friendly competition, right? lol.

Wanna know something funny? I had to look up what a skirt chaser 5k was! 😉

  5. Way to go on the lb lost!! I seem to stay much more motivated, and accountable when I do talk to my hubby about such things. He knows my weight and he knows that I am inching in on him. My goal is to weigh less than him! Ha ha! Congrats on breastfeeding, it is such a wonderful thing, and I miss it so much now that my kids are older! 🙁 Enjoy that time!!!

Breastfeeding is the best. It's such a wonderful bonding time with your little one. Keep going as long as you can with it, it only gets better IMO. Plus, it releases natural relaxers so baby feels good and you feel good after. Can't beat that!

You're just all around wonderful. Have a great week and I hope you kick your hubby's butt LOL!

Way to go Kia – you're doing awesome with your training. Do you bring Bodhi with you when you run, or does daddy watch him? I'm so glad that the breastfeeding is going well!

Great job working towards a 5K and half marathon 🙂 I hate to run, but I am also working towards my first half marathon. I found a great training plan that builds up from 5K to 10K to half marthon in SELF Magazine. You can find it here: http://downloads.self.com/self/pdfs/runners_training_plan.pdf

Looking forward to hearing about your progress next week 🙂
