vlog

Today marks six weeks after baby and two huge milestones. First I taught a women’s yoga class and it rocked. Second I weighed and measured myself and am happy. I am just under pre-pregnancy weight. My husband said, “I am so proud of you. You are below pre-pregnancy weight and you kept the big teats!” Yay, we each have our reasons to celebrate.

6 weeks post baby… let’s get down to numbers (and note I was overweight going into my pregnancy)

175.4 pounds (my first goal weight is 175)
38.6% body fat (according to my scale)
currently 67 pounds of fat on me (I want this number down!)
bust 38.5″
waist 35″
hips 40.5″
right thigh 26″ left thigh 26″
right arm 13.5″ left arm 13.5″

In the most ideal world I’ll retain my lean muscle mass and get my weight down to 141 pounds with 24% body fat… basically dropping 34 pounds of fat. The way I plan to do this is with my cross-training for a 5K in August, a 1/2 marathon in October, and maybe another 1/2 in December. I love moving and am thrilled for this week’s Mamavation show with biomechanic expert Katy Bowman. After my car wreck I worked on alignment a lot with a chiropractor for 15 months, as a yoga instructor now I focus on this a lot still. I am hoping to learn more with Katy’s Aligned and Well series.

Let the fun begin. I have seriously been so jealous of all you mamavation ladies with your progress. It seems like FUN!

Here are my goals for rewards!! 175 (pedicure), 165 (shoes), 150 (?), 141 (?). In an ideal world they will be reached in a week, for my bday, when I do my 1/2 marathon and 5 Dec (maybe another 1/2 marathon).

I am a dork, I miss training, I like physical goals. Above all know I will abandon these goals and dates if my milk supply gets low or my baby is suffering from my efforts in a bad way. Currently I eat loads of freggies, drink lots of water, getting back to my groove with moving (will run 3x this week, do postnatal taebo 3x), my sleep is inconsistent but I have a newborn, I do my best. My big issues are inconsistency and fear of success once I start doing well. I may also mess up on eating enough food, I’ll need about 2400 calories/day to eat well enough to lose, exclusively breast feed, and exercise. Wish me luck.

My big goal this week is to manage my time well and not stress too much. Thank goodness for Leslie Gail and her life coaching Life Simplified show. I will be heading up to Breckenridge resort next week for a few days courtesy of her and her show. Follow her on twitter as @gr8lifecoach for an uplifting show every Tuesday morning and some pretty fun swag.

Congrats to SOTW Rita Ann! To me she is as cool as a cucumber with how she dealt with recent stress.

Last thing, I taught my first yoga class since baby today. When I finished I called my husband to see how he and baby were doing. There was no answer so I raced home to find this…

Besides my own sanity, they are my reason to better myself physically and in every other capacity.

Wow you have a lot of energy for someone who has a 6 week old!! My doula told me not to worry about losing weight for 6 months. It really did just come off once I was nursing long-term.

Would love to take your yoga class! Can you also rub off some of that good energy on me?

Great job Kia! You'll get there! I found that when breastfeeding my body held onto a certain amount of maternal fat stores until my baby was about 6 mos… after that the weight flew off! After nursing.. well that's another story.

You can do it! Congrats on reaching your first goal!
