Happy Father’s Day to the men who support us women as we become better people. It is simple, a happy mama makes for a better mama and that is what all of us want.
Now… vloggity, vloggity…
This week has been great with our newborn. I had originally planned to be a piggy for a week then get serious about diet and nutrition. Yeah, that did not really happen. I made a peach cobbler on Friday in early labor and helped demolish that on Sunday and Monday with guests that stopped by to meet Bodhi. Other than that my diet has been really clean this week. I partially owe that to you ladies and your posts. I was able to go through all Mamavation Monday posts on early Wednesday and it was a nice motivation to not let my nutrition habits slip this week. Thank you for posting and being there for me whether you realized it or not.
Something that you may be interested in… we signed up for mealbaby.com so friends could bring us meals if they chose and have for the most part been wowed by the nutritious deliciousness that has come our way. If you have to have any recovery time after an accident or having a baby this is a great website where people can sign up to bring you a dinner on a calendar, scroll to see what others are bringing you so there is variety, see your food preferences, see your food dislikes or allergies, and see what restaurants you may want gift certificates to if they live to far away to bring you anything. The organization and coordination is easy on this site.
While I’m at it I’ll mention Subway here, they are sponsors for this week’s show and blogging carnival. They are a chain-restaurant I would love a gift certificate for. I am a simple oven-roasted chicken breast sammich kind of gal. Subway is sponsoring this week’s show because @ShayBL will be the special guest. 21 June is also the start of Mamavation mom campaign 5 application submissions.
This next week I will continue to eat well. I am not exercising for 6 weeks after having my babe. I am still under “house arrest” by orders of my midwife to insure infection risks stay low for me and the baby. I have a furlough in the next week to go for a ride in the mountains and picnic as long as I don’t hike. We were going to do that today but we had a tornado warning issued a little bit ago so we will put that off. Besides taking care of B the only things my midwife wants for me to do are soul-nourishing activities. I am doing a tiny bit of restorative yoga for my pelvis since I am sick of sitting, a supported fish pose to help my lymph system (and avoid mastitis), walking around the orchard, and visiting with friends. I’ll also be around the interwebs a lot.
For the most part this last week has been quiet and calm. The TV goes on for World Cup and a movie or two. Other than that the house has been permeated with the sounds of song birds coming in through the windows. I think it has been a very nice start for my baby’s life and my motherhood journey.

I am in complete and utter awe of you! I can not explain the motivation and inspiration you are to me and I am sure so many other moms.
OH and I absolutely LOVE the oven roasted chicken breast!!!
So glad you and Bodhi are doing so well! I've never heard of Meal Baby, but my sister is pregnant and I'll definitely be sharing it with her. Were you at all concerned about all those people coming by with a newborn (because I know my sis will be)?
We have been monitoring who visits vs. who simply drops food off. We also have a sign on the door informing people to wash hands and make visits brief so I can rest. There are many ways you can "control" what germs enter your environment.
WOW, you look great!
You are gorgeous. You inspire me. I love you tremendously! <3
You are a true inspiration for all Moms out there Kia! You totally look amazing!!
You are doing so great! You are truly one of my biggest motivators girl! Enjoy being a Mom you'll be great I already know it!
You are amazing Kia! You are a awesome mommy! Staying healthy for you and for Bodhi! Great inspiration for the rest of us!
What a awesome site with the meals! I wish I knew about that when I was on bedrest for 3 weeks with Jake! that would of helped a ton!
DANG you look fantastic! A little splurging is nice but I'm glad you got that curbed before you regretted it. <3
Wow, mama bear, you look amazing! And I do love the boobie shirt! You are the person I wish I could be (yes, I broke into song in my head.)! You really do make me so proud! Love you! *hugs*
You really are an inspiration. I'm glad you're taking some time for yourself and to just be with your baby. Motherhood is full of surprises and you're so smart to be giving your mind and your body time to adapt.
Your little Bodhi is adorable, too. But then you knew that. 🙂
You look great, Kia! I loved breastfeeding and the fact that I could eat more. And since I was overweight in my pregnancy, I lost 45 lbs in 6 weeks because of breastfeeding. Loved that!
I think I said it before, but enjoy this time with Bodhi! Enjoy the snuggles and that wonderful baby smell!
You SERIOUSLY look Ah-Mazing!! Regarding the weight loss… it will all come off eventually – especially since you are such a hard worker! 🙂
You look so great!!! I really gotta get moving and eating good like you …you are such a great role model.
Daaaaaaaaang, look how big your boobs are. Wow, did your milk come in, huh? LOL XXOO
This is so crazy seeing you without your preggo belly!!! You look awesome!
I can't believe you're already back in the swing of things. I didn't start itching to get moving again until 3 weeks when I started Pilates.
Being a mom is pretty cool, isn't it?
Your post is so calm it actually relaxed me! I love it. Never heard of mealbaby.com before – that sounds like a great idea!
You do everything to keep that mastitis away! I had it twice & it was no fun at all! Enjoy your rest with your baby! That's way more exciting than exercising anyway 🙂
By the way, you look awesome for just having a baby! Congrats on that!
Kia, you look wonderful! Congrats again on your new little babe. You certainly look as though a ton of weight has dropped easily from you. Isn't it nice to see your feet again? 😉
Kia…you look amazing!!!! Congratulations on your first week of being a mom. You are awesome!
Ummm, WOW! You look terrific and you sound great (read rested).
Congrats Kia on not wasting the free week and making it count. I am restarting myself. Good luck training for the half marathon. You are iron woman.
You look so happy and beautiful! Congratulations on making this first week as a mom a wonderful thing!
You look awesome after only a week! I think next time I have a baby, I'll have you make up my meal plans LOL.
Good luck with the half in October. I'm just now starting to feel half-marathon ready and it has been 9 months (had to stop running 6 months into pregnancy).
I haven't gotten around to responding to blog posts until now, but I wanted to say that you look fabulous. I'm jealous!! And if your diet has been clean, consider the cobbler a reward for all the hard work of carrying that baby around! 🙂
