mamavation monday 8 feb 2010

Quick video today…

If you did not figure it out, I lost my voice. It was going buh-bye on Friday night and went kapoot yesterday. I actually woke in the middle of the night because my throat was raw and put together a concoction of strong red raspberry leaf tea and apple cider vinegar to gargle with and that took the edge off. My throat felt less raw and after gargling for an hour I was able to go back to sleep. My throat feels so much better and is on the mend now, but I still cannot speak that well with my normal voice.

Last week I was doing really well the first half of the week and then my insomnia caught up with me and I got sick. I have been battling a cold then sore throat since Wednesday.

I saw my midwife today and we examined my insomnia and she thinks I may simply be hungry. The disruption of my blood sugar level in the middle of the night is what wakes me. She has had a number of active pregnant women and says it is not uncommon. She wants me to try to eat some yogurt if I wake in the middle of the night and see if that puts me back to sleep. If that is not the cause then we will begin to explore herbs but I am trying to work with the cause of the issue first.

This week my priorities are to get back to healthy while eating well and still doing yoga. As I get better I’ll get back to the strength and cardio training. And of course I need to keep supporting the mamavation sistahood. See ya tonight at the @mamavation spot 10 EST. Click here to learn more about mamavation and today’s mamavation monday.

Last thing last… STATS.

At my pre-conception check-up a month before I got pregnant I weighed in at 177. Last month (17 weeks) at my midwife’s office I weighed in at 172. Today (21 weeks) was 174.5 (with my heavy snow clothes on). I can tell my body fat has gone down because my bump is GROWING and I think I should be more than 174.5 thus it has to be subtracted from some place else. If it weren’t for the bump I would be in my size 8 pants comfy-like.

Have a great week everyone. I look forward to cheering on your successes and helping to keep you accountable with your less than successful endeavors.

I hope you're feeling better now 🙂 Didn't know about the raspberry tea and apple cider concoction, but glad you shared it. I usually gargle an organic mouthwash whenever I have sore throat and that usually does the trick. Hearing the baby's heartbeat always brings me joy… wow… — @ImAHotMom

  10. Yeah, EAT! My last pregnancy I used to wake in the middle of the night starving, so I had trail mix by the bed. My dh would wake up from me eating…lol. I never even thought of yogurt. I'll store that little nugget of wisdom away for the next round 😉 XXOO

    LOVED the video! Buddha belly…..!!!
