mamavation monday 22 feb 10

Before I begin I need to re-post a comment I left on my mamavation post from last week:

Everyone, thank you for your support and advice. This is my first time at this and I do not have female family support (besides my sister-in-law) to go to so it really means a lot to read your words.

I really do mean this. You ladies have been extremely supportive about my health, fitness, and my pregnancy. You have no idea how much your kind words and advice have meant to me in the last two months.

I am feeling healthier this week so I can VLOG! I am not speaking that loud so turn up your volume if you need to.

I succeeded with two goals from last week in that I got healthier and I ate more this past week. I did do well with fruits and veggies (I joined @fitcheerldr challenge). I did not try any anchovy or seaweed salad recipes though. I also did ZERO cardio but kept up the yoga and light strength-training. Thank goodness I do not have any pregnancy aches and pains… I blame still being somewhat active.

This week my challenges were not feeling 100% yet, not getting any cardio in, and I also ate some less than great calories for me. I had fries twice, a burger once, and a burrito. My pregnant body is getting to a point where I want calories. I am doing things I do not normally do in eating late at night, eating in the middle of the night, and eating while I am cooking. Obviously my body wants food but I do not need to go the route of cheap and easy calories, I can and will do better this week with my nutrient density.

I am up to 176 pounds from 174.5 last week but need to watch myself so I don’t magically balloon unless my body wants to do it. Weight gain for baby, yes… weight gain due to poor nutrition habits, no!

For this week my goals are:
1. Be prepared with meals and snacks so I have better nutrient density.
2. At least 8 servings of fruits and veggies/day.
3. Get in three cardio sessions this week.
4. Continue strength training and yoga.

Do come to the Mamavation show on Monday night (10 EST) because it is great support and this week Dr. Renna will be a special guest. She is a pediatrician and nutritionist.

And if you have time beforehand COME SEE ME as the special guest on the Organic Baby Resource Show at 8 EST as I talk prenatal and fertility yoga for those interested in these types of practice.

The last thing, this is a BIG week for us. We have the anatomy screen and echocardiogram for the baby on Tuesday. I am trying not to be nervous but any extra good vibes/thoughts/prayers or whatever you can spare for a healthy baby will be appreciated.

Have a great week everyone. Be gentle with yourselves. Be stellar in all you do!

So happy to see you bouncing, and cheerful, and well again! Yay! It's the same here in Chicago, snowstorms every now and then. I love to walk outside and enjoy nature, can't stand my treadmill at the basement, I get really, really bored, then injure myself, ugh, I'm such a dork.

Anyway, your baby is very, very lucky to have you as a mom. Your really taking good care of yourself very well. I'm so proud of you! Keep the produce comin'!

Precutting and precooking your fruits and veggies help with those "gotta have something now" moments. Packing them in convenient carriers for on the go times is a must, especially for vegetarian/semi-vegetarian eating. I've had to succomb to the fatal fries too, and that is definitely a no-no for anyone watching their weight.

You look great! Pregnancy definitely agrees with you! Keep up the great work and as you said, be gentle with yourself—NO MORE FALLS MOMMY!
