This Monday at 8 PM EST I will be on Organic Baby Resources online show to talk Pre-Natal Yoga with Erika. We have some basic topics compiled but I would love to have an open chat with any of you if yoga is something you are interested in. We will talk about why it is beneficial to pregnant women, different kinds of practices, what you should expect from your practice, resources for you to have the most beneficial practice, and anything else you may want to know.
Here is the link to the 30 minute show when it is on.
I don’t go into a lot of my life on this blog but here is an aspect of me you may not know. I am a certified yoga instructor. I have a Level I – 200 hour certification recognized from Yoga Alliance and have a fertility/pre-natal/post-natal certification as well. Yoga Alliance is the leading certification center for yoga instructors but does not have standards for pre-natal instruction yet (they are working on them though).
I work with private clients and sub in an ashram and for local studios. In my other life I am an environmental specialist working as a consultant. I trained as an ecologist in a PhD program for three years before a car accident made me leave that life to rehabilitate my body. I have taught human biology and marine biology at a university before I left my program so besides my science knowledge I also have a formal background in pedagogy. Environmental issues are really my big passion with the world, but yoga became a grounding passion for myself and complemented my recovery from my accident very well.
I am currently 22 weeks pregnant and work a good deal with my pre-natal yoga mentor as a student now as I develop my pre-natal yoga teaching style. My level I is from a hatha ashram, my prenatal is from an Ashtanga practicioner. I modify my sessions a lot to the client and like to work them into a flow when their bodies are ready, but that is not always where everyone is… pregnant or not.
Please join in for the discussion and/or leave questions here that you may have.

Your baby bump is looking adorable!
Hello!
saw this post on Babyfit and followed it here. I plan on "being" at your show as well. I have been doing Anusara yoga for about 5 years, and started Prenatal yoga with my yoga instructor pretty much the second i found out i was pregnant. so i look forward to the show!
Sara (PreggoPwr)
Sara I love Anusara and John Friend. Attending two sessions with him really opened my eyes. When I get back to non-natal yoga I plan to continue my yoga training and certification via his lineage.
Good luck on your show! I'm so sorry I can't make it cause it's right in the middle of dinner. 🙁 XXOO
