24 weeks

My twitter friend Gena at the former Morris Bunch Blog, now Fairy Tales and Puppy Dog Tales, informed me that this was a big week when she hit this mark with Myles nine weeks ago. 24 weeks is also known as viability week. This is a week where just in case anything happened and the baby could no longer stay in the womb its lungs were functioning enough to be able to breathe. There is a possibility a babe could survive outside the body at this time. That is pretty major!

Viability week coupled with a healthy ultrasound and echocardiogram this week have put me and my husband on cloud 9, over the moon, and any other ultra-cheesy cliche you want to insert here.

Well I got a big ol’ belly now. As I said to my also short BFF when she was pregnant, “forward momentum” we want forward growth, not out to the side squishy growth! I do believe today is a day for pictures. Just be kind in your responses. I am pregnant so can be prone to be oversensitive and crazy from what I have read.

And on an enthusiastic note I attended the breastfeeding cafe last night. I saw some awesome people I follow on twitter who are lactivist attend and figured I should go and learn a lot. Well I RSVPd as it started with the intention to let the organizers know I was there for their numbers and won a crazy, kind breastfeeding basket courtesy of Best for Babes that wasn’t even listed on the RSVP page. Seriously! First off, if you will be new to breastfeeding you should attend, they were dropping mad knowledge from the organizers, “experts”, and general attendees. It really is a nice space for newbies to ask questions. I am reading Huggins’ “the Nursing Mother’s Companion” and plan to attend again as I develop questions from this book.
