things I look forward to: swagger

As pregnant women our bodies gain mass and throw off our center of gravity, yet we still try to walk with little hip movement to stay in control. The result is the third trimester WADDLE. I am not a duck, I do not want to waddle. I was working with my yoga mentor over the weekend and talking about how pregnancy hips are pliable as we prepare for baby and how we can safely translate this hip alignment in our movements. We ended up doing a series of exercises to improve the pregnancy gait and it most resembled an idealized woman balancing a load of laundry on her head and moving about with a graceful booty swish. It is not a waddle, it is a fluid hip motion.

Truthfully it drove my husband wild all weekend as I worked on improving my walk around town and at home. My yoga mentor wanted to call it a sway, I told her she needs to refer to it as a swagger.

In honor of all the beautiful preggos out there that strut there stuff I was reminded of the one who did it with the most panache… M. I. A. at the Grammy’s performing on her due date last year. The dress is kooky, but she let her presence be known.

  1. Swish is exactly the word I use. And yours is mind-numbingly gorgeous.

Kooky? That's the best you could come up with for the dress? Ha!

And you go girl, get that swagger on. I loved being pregnant, it's clear you do too!

  3. No, what was down right fugly was the dress she wore on the red carpet that night 😉
