I have started this year off well. I am 2/2 on heading to the yoga studio. This is just by coincidence though.
Yesterday was a special New Year event co-taught by two teachers I admire. Today was my regular prenatal class. Yesterday was not filled with modification for various trimesters or conditions. Today was. Yesterday was more about exploration with my body and getting really deep into some asanas. Today was more about getting deep into my intention.
At only 16 weeks pregnancy I don’t feel I physically need to be going to prenatal yoga yet. However there are great benefits for me. As a yoga teacher it is really good to get into the space of a pregnant woman for when I work with my prenatal clients. I am developing a great camaraderie with my classmates who are in various stages of their pregnancy. I get to practice endurance and intention actions to explore the length of an average contraction or meant for me to send specific messages to Zakumi. I also get to work on physical practices specified for the pregnant body like pelvic floor exercises and the hard act of strengthening my body in poses while relaxing my uterus. It is akin to patting the head and rubbing the belly, almost two disconnected actions to be done simultaneously.
What the last two days have shown are that I am appreciative of my prenatal program and will stick to it. However I can still explore in my non-prenatal practice because I have fun figuring out my own modifications on the fly and strengthening my body in ways the prenatal class does not offer me.

I hope that some day I can be as in tune with my body as you are. You really are an inspiration for me.
just wait… soon enough that body will feel pregnant through and through. love the blog! n
