I have been remote today and having a heck of a time posting the VLAWG – so it may go up later.VLAWWWWG

Physically the biggest challenge has been regaining my milk supply that I lost with a bout of food poisoning two weeks ago. I ate a lot of coconut milk ice cream and turkey burgers to get it back via putting on some weight fast. I feel it is there now but I have been cautious with my exercise to make sure I am not depleting myself. I crossfitted hard today (including a lot of cleans and presses) and can feel it with not being 100% balanced with my nutrition and workouts. Hopefully my body will work itself out this week as I go hard with my workouts.

I am eating a bagel and having a mix1 to make up for it and see how that works. It is more silly carb heavy than I would like but feeding my baby is my #1 priority in any part of my journey – just like I vowed it would be during my pregnancy.

My shout outs to myself this week…

#1 I have been invited to lead a vlogging workshop at EVO conference in Park City, UT this summer. I am pretty thrilled.

#2 Today I cleaned for the first time since I was a jock. That is power-lifting cleaning, not clean yo’ house cleaning. I did not have a support rack and weighted a bar to be 80 pounds for 45 presses and 15 cleans as part of a workout in crossfit. I felt cool.

This week’s Mamavation blogging carnival is sponsored by a Colorado company. I rarely do the blogging carnival but I got to support the local.

How do you reward yourself after you have worked hard towards a goal? Do you have any pampering rewards thought out for future goals?

I generally reward myself with cute workout clothes if it is a physical goal. When I reach goal body fat percentage I am getting myself a Kelly Moore Clark bag for my photography equipment. In my more immediate goals I have a bunch of massage gift certificates for various weight/body fat metrics.

I wrote this blog post while participating in the Mamavation Blogging Carnival for a chance to win a Eco Ethical Skincare Basket from Tilvee

  1. When I hit that first 25lbs loss I went clothes shopping, actually hubby got me two dresses that I normally would never purchase. Sounds like you are doing great and I agree, feeding baby comes first. Hope you can get that milk in so you can do what you like doing.WTG on being invited to lead the vlogging workshop. 🙂 Have a great week!

  2. Way to go!! You are amazing!! I also applaud you for taking care of YOU and baby FIRST. my T-man still nurses (round the clock) but I can tell when I don’t take care of me and my nutrition he tends to fuss and want to nurse more (supply). YOu are an amazing MOTHER and PERSON!! Proud of you and all you have accomplished and super proud to know you!!

I too have tangible rewards that I strive for when I reach my physical goals.

    Have a great week!

    1. Thanks for that feedback. I do notice that when I am not eating well or enough that B does not go through the night as much and it creates a sleepless cycle for me that makes everything a little harder. I tend to try to border a bit on eating too much to avoid it (which has not been great for weight loss but great for baby). I am hovering in a size 8 right now and would love to get to a 6 but feeding the little guy is my priority.

  3. Your boy makes most unbelievable faces. Loved it
I could never go far with my milk supply and amazed how well you’re doing and understanding how you can get it back. Hope you get back into you awesome shape soon. XO

  4. I love you Kia. Big puffy heart love.

I am sorry you have been sick and having milk supply issues.

I look up to you and admire you for being as strong, willing, supportive, and determined as you are.

I am so proud of you and so glad I can call you friend.

    1. Aw that’s so sweet, I’m going to cry! She DOES rock, don’t you think?

  5. Ha ha I thought you meant you cleaned your house. I was like how are those two things related? Yay on the EVO conference! WOOP! I need to vlog. I hate the way my voice sounds though…

Glad you got your milk back!! PHEW. I loved nursing because I could eat so much and never gain and sometimes lose.

Do I seriously get to meet you in like 2 weeks??? WOOHOO!!!

  6. Congrats on the EVO conference opportunity!! That sounds amazing, and I’ve also enjoyed your video. Especially getting to see Bodhi!

I did a food drive for my job earlier this month and I was really happy that folks dropped off healthy and organic options vs the usual stuff that no one wants to eat.

  7. I am so glad you finally got your milk back. I applaud you for working so hard at it. I remember how frustrating it was for me, but sadly I did give in after a couple of months of little to no milk. Luckily by that time my little guy was old enough to have other options.

Anyway, I think you are awesome, loved your blog, and can’t wait to hang in a few weeks in Austin!

  8. I absolutely missed you while I was on hiatus from Mamavation! You always stuck in my mind and remained a source of motivation! You rock, Kia!
